Workshop Design Project for Now Is The Time Technical Assistance Center

After the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, the Federal Government took action by authorizing SAMHSA to create the Project AWARE grant program. Grantees of the SAMHSA project are charged with creating and launching school mental health and wellness programs to prevent and combat violence in communities. This spring, grantees will gather for a number of workshops aimed at building background knowledge, fine-tuning plans and preparing to scale their initiatives.

Melissa Jones worked with the Now Is the Time Technical Assistance Center to develop the learning design for two face-to-face workshops for SAMHSA grantees. The first workshop focused on Youth Engagement in school mental health initiatives, and the second focused on Trauma Informed Care. Melissa facilitated contributions from subject matter experts, designed the flow of the learning activities, and developed content (curriculum, presentations decks and handouts) to be used during the workshops.
